Spooky Monkey Design Studio

There is a richness, randomness, and authenticity in nature ... fire, smoke, and chance ... that cannot be reproduced by the hand of man. He can only display, enhance, or incorporate it, hopefully to its greatest effect. I make my plates, doll head ornaments, and other ceramic works with this in mind. The results run from beautiful to whimsical to creepy.

Ceramic techniques like raku and pit firing allow the artist to produce rich, beautiful finishes beyond his abilities in exchange for putting his work in the hand of fate. The results are immediate and spectacular.
