American Maker: Chicago

Wed, Sep 10 2008Comments (0) | Cinnamon

The fine folks at MAKE asked us to pass this on to you.

On Saturday, September 20th at the Museum of Science and Industry, the editors of MAKE will be organizing a "show-and-tell" program called American Maker. The goal of American Maker is to showcase grassroots innovation from Chicago-area makers. We're looking for makers who are working on cool projects and whose work has the potential to benefit others. We believe that makers are a leading force in grassroots innovation -- where individuals decide to create something new.

American Maker is a friendly competition and the winner will be awarded a $500 cash prize plus publication in a future issue of MAKE.

If you'd like to participate and show what you make at this event, you can submit a project at:

http://www.makezine.com/american/

You are also welcome to come on Saturday, September 20th and join us in the audience. American Maker is part of Lab Fest, which kicks off Science Chicago at the Museum of Science and Industry. American Maker will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on September 20th. Admission to the museum is free on that day.

We hope to see you there!

Cheers,
The MAKE Team

Craftacular: Madison, Wisconsin

Comments (0) | Cinnamon

Naomi Richardson of Glitter Workshop and vendor at the DIY Trunk Show is one of the organizers for another Craftacular and asked us to pass this along to you.

It's time once again to look ahead to the Holiday Craftacular!

For those of you who do not know, this year's fourth annual Holiday Craftacular will be happening on Saturday Dec. 6 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at our new location, the Madison Masonic Center. The Masonic Center is located in the heart of downtown just blocks away from the Capitol!

We are so excited for the new location. It is absolutely beautiful and will allow for three times more vendors to participate. We will also have food available for vendors and shoppers to purchase in a separate dining and lounge area.

For all the details on the show, as well as instructions on how to apply, please visit the Craftacular page at : http://glitterworkshop.com/dish/craftacular .

We are also offering exciting oppurtunites for sponsors to participate in the show. Please contact me for further details if you are interested in information.

I hope to hear from many of you and please feel free to contact me if you have any additional questions. Also, please feel free to forward this to other crafty friends you feel may be interested in the show!
