Choosing vendors is a hard job

Wed, Jul 26 2006Comments (11) | Cinnamon

We're slowly whittling the vendor list down so everyone will fit in the room. It's a hard and painful process but we're getting close. What makes it hard is that we want everyone in the show, but fire codes and space won't allow it. So we're juggling, trying to get a good mix of people. I mean just because we got 50 amazing jewelers who applied for the 64 available spots doesn't mean that we should take all the jewelers, you know?

But give us another week or so. We'll start getting emails out to everyone this weekend and the official list of the chosen vendors will be posted right here on August 1. So stay tuned.

Trunk Show Opportunity

Fri, Jul 21 2006Comments (13) | Cinnamon

Last night I and the Gaudy Girls from Milwaukee had a trunk show at Scents and Sensebility in Lincoln Square on Rockwell near the Brown Line station. Julie Knapp, the wonderful owner, and her sweet puppy May made us feel welcome and all the people who came into the shopping were absolutely lovely people.

Julie would like to make this a more common occurrence so she's asking local designers to contact her if they're interested in being in a show. She sells a lot of candles, soaps, fresh flowers, cards, some jewelry, some baby items and some other home furnishing items. If you're interested, this is what she has to say:

Interested in participating in a trunk show in Chicago? For consideration, contact shopkeeper Julie Knapp from Scents and Sensibility at 773-267-3838 or juliereneek@yahoo.com.

Detroit Urban Craft Fair

Comments (0) | Amy

Here's a good reason to say nice things about Detroit: The Detroit Urban Craft Fair is coming!

More than 50 indie craft vendors will be showing their goodies at the historic Majestic Theater on Saturday, August 5, from 11 am to 8 pm. Vendor slots are filled, but if you're in the metro area that weekend, grab a Vernor's and shop for stuff. Free goodie bags to the first 50 shoppers!

The DUCF has been lovingly constructed by the crafty kitties at Handmade Detroit.
